When I was in London last year I saw his beautiful installation Sunflower Seeds - which, sadly, was not fully open to the public for it's intended purpose. The grand scale and inclusive scope of his project was incredible in its own right, and the sheer immensity of the finished work was exhilarating. To be a dissident means to be one who disagrees or objects to a certain idea - I think in this case most of the art world could be described as such.
I hope Ai is released soon, and unharmed.
